When I refreshed the water cup for my large snake plant cutting, I noticed a wee dangly bit along the cut edge. Maybe it’s just natural decay? Maybe it’s the start of new root growth? Time will tell, and we’ll be watching.
This year I’m going to be more proactive about managing the remaining inchplants, in my continuing effort to make them more bushy, less leggy. I pruned the Purple Hearts this week, and replanted two cuttings straight back into the mother plant pots. The third is getting the water propagation treatment. I also went back and trimmed the cut stems to right above the remaining nodes, as we’ve learned to clip right under nodes for propagation, but right over nodes for pruning.
In the front garden, even the squirrels seem to be trying their little paws at proactive gardening. Not only did they dig a mini pit in the raised garden bed, but they also plopped in a flower head from one of the weeds in the neighbor’s yard. Clever girl.
I think it is Purple Dead Nettle, which has numerous uses for medicinal purposes, but I don’t trust myself (or internet identification) enough to bother testing and potentially poisoning myself. At least at this point.
And my current source of immense joy: the Yellow Queen Hyacinths. Check out the budding growth on these stunners!
